IISR organizes at least one international symposium every year on cutting edge themes in the area of science religion dialogue, especially themes which will have serious moral, social and religious implications.

It also organizes national and regional seminars. Particular care is taken to organize seminars and conferences in our Catholic institutions of higher education.

Moreover, it helps CBCI and other Catholic organizations in their effort to reach out to scientists and other scholars.

Another mission of IISR is to encourage with scholarship and other incentives regular research and publications in the field.

The field of activity of IISR extends to the whole of India. It supports the existing sister-centres in different parts of India, and help start new ones, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

Publication of scholarly books and research papers in scholarly journals is another mission of IISR.
